Dubai, UAE – October 17, 2025 — The 45th edition of GITEX Global 2025, one of the world’s largest technology events, brought together over 6,800 companies from 180 countries at the Dubai World Trade Centre from October 13–17. The event spotlighted critical technologies shaping the digital future, including artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and quantum computing — reflecting the UAE’s position as a global hub for innovation and digital resilience.
Among the most discussed topics at GITEX 2025 was AI’s transformative role in cybersecurity and governance. In a keynote at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meetings of the Global Future Councils and Cybersecurity 2025, Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, described AI as “the new oil into so many sectors that we have,” emphasizing that it could fundamentally change how nations approach digital security.
The UAE’s five-pillar National Cybersecurity Strategy — centered on partnership, governance, protection, innovation, and technology building — continues to guide national efforts toward resilience and global cooperation. Al Kuwaiti underscored the importance of collaboration across public and private sectors: “Partnership with the private sector, partnership with the government, and partnership with multi-stakeholders — this is what reinforces cyber resilience.”
A strong example of such partnership was unveiled during GITEX week, as the UAE Cyber Security Council (CSC) and Meta launched the “Scambusters” educational campaign. The initiative aims to combat online scams through awareness and AI-driven innovation. The campaign directs users to Sago, an AI chatbot developed by Mythos Labs, that allows UAE residents to verify suspicious messages and learn how to report fraud.
“Protecting our digital communities requires education, innovation, and collaboration. Scambusters is a model for how AI can empower individuals to stay safe online,” said a spokesperson from the UAE Cyber Security Council.
With over 2,000 startups, 40+ unicorns, and tech giants like Google, Microsoft, Huawei, IBM, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman participating virtually, GITEX 2025 reaffirmed Dubai’s role as a nexus for global digital innovation.
Approximately 80% of attendees came from outside the UAE, underscoring the nation’s growing influence in shaping an inclusive, secure, and AI-driven digital economy
